Installation
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- Unreal Engine 5.0 or newer (supported through 5.8).
- An MCP-compatible AI client — Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or any other.
- Node.js 18 or newer — runs the
npxbridge most clients use to connect. Clients that speak Streamable HTTP natively can skip it. - Windows. Version 0.1 ships Windows binaries only.
Direktor works in any project, including Blueprint-only ones. The copy you install from Fab is precompiled per engine version, so there’s no C++ project requirement.
Install from Fab
Section titled “Install from Fab”-
Buy and download Direktor from its Fab listing for your engine version. Fab installs it into the engine through the Epic Games Launcher.

Open your project, then go to Edit → Plugins.

Search for Direktor, tick Enabled, and restart the editor when prompted.
Verify it loaded
Section titled “Verify it loaded”After the restart, open Window → Direktor to bring up the setup panel. If the panel shows the server listening on port 13579, Direktor is running and ready to connect. Head to Quick Setup to point your AI client at it.
If you don’t see the menu entry, confirm the plugin is enabled under Edit → Plugins and that you restarted the editor. The Troubleshooting page covers the rest.
